The struggle for women to obtain the right to vote was called the suffrage movement. There were many leaders of the movement who helped to make a change. Some of them were Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Sojourner Truth. Some of the things that they did were give speeches, and organize and join groups. Leaders of the suffrage movement dedicated their lives to work for women's rights. ==Look at the links and pictures below for more information and websites about the suffrage movement!==
Above is a picture of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony.
These two women worked for women to have the same rights as men. They took some of the first steps in the movement and helped to change the lives of women forever.
This is a picture of two women holding a sign for the National American Woman Suffrage Association.
In 1869, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony created the National Women's Suffrage Association, also known as the NWSA. The NWSA and AWSA joined together to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association, or NAWSA in 1890. The NAWSA and AWSA combined each of their ideas to help the organization make an impact on the rights women have. The NAWSA group led the way for the Nineteenth Amendment to go into action in 1920. (
